It’s Fall Y’all – An Asheville Blog

I just returned Tuesday from an awesome weekend in Asheville, NC celebrating my 31st birthday a little early with my closest friends and family. 9 of us rented a cabin in Mars Hill, NC about 45 minutes north of Asheville in Wolf Laurel. The view was amazing. I am the planner in the family and I always get a little anxious when I rent online. I was 100% satisfied with my find! Here is the link to the cabin we stayed in. http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p123416#rates

My parents and I drove up Friday evening and stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites at the Airport in Fletcher. They offer an awesome military discount. My friends Joe and Markie met us late Friday night as well. We had an awesome breakfast the next morning and a leisure start to our day. My sister, her boyfriend, and my cousin were headed in from Arkansas and Tennessee. We all met up in downtown Asheville and enjoyed the sites. We had a great time walking around and checking out the sites. We enjoyed lunch a restaurant called Table. The portions were a bit small for the price and the service was a little slow. All in all it was nice.

After lunch we headed up to the cabin. I was so excited to see what was there for us. We all needed some time to relax. This place was amazing. Fireplaces, hot tub, and a beautiful view. We stopped by Ingles on the way up and got lots of food and drinks to feast on. Below is a picture of the sunrise on Sunday morning from the main level of the cabin.

Sunday morning I was up before everyone else and had my quiet time on the main floor. My devotion for the day rocked my world. I tent to stay away from saying, “God spoke to me” or “God told me” bc I feel like those words are thrown around a lot! But that morning I heart his voice louder then I ever have. My devotion had an excerpt from Pilgrims Progress that said, “Pilgrim was taken to a large upper room that faced the sunrise. And the name of the room was peace.” I instantly started crying. I was overwhelmed with peace. I was sitting there in the “upper room” of this cabin watching this beautiful sunrise reading this and I just couldn’t believe. God is so good. I needed that and I was in the right place to receive it.

Sunday we all headed to the Biltmore Estate! This was such a fun time exploring the house. So much to see and take in. We then headed to the winery for an awesome tasting. It was a blast.

Sunday night we headed back into downtown Asheville and enjoyed dinner at the Tupelo Honey Cafe. It had an awesome menu as well as a great gluten free menu!

Monday morning we decided to take a hike. We were excited for this hike but it was more of a walk. HAHA We were on part of the Appalachian Trail which was really neat. We got to see some hikers on the way up. We hiked up to Bald Mountain. The view was incredible! You could see GA, NC, SC, and TN from the top. Well worth the walk.

Everyone headed out Monday afternoon except for my parents and I. My parents went to meet some friends for dinner at The Corner Kitchen in Asheville and I just stayed up at the cabin by the fire. It was a nice time to read and just meditate on the weekend.

This was a trip to remember. We have all decided that we would like to make this an annual event and return to Wolf Laurel. We missed peak season by about a week or so but it was still worth every penny. We had an awesome time just being together and enjoying the beauty around us. It was an awesome start to 31 and I am so thankful I got to spend it with all of  my favorite people! I am truly blessed!

Hey! I am not sure about that. I don’t have any issues doing it from my laptop at all.
