I had the awesome chance to take a last minute trip to San Fran and Napa 2 weeks ago! What a cool thing. I had a companion ticket that had to be used by the end of March and I told my mom to pick the place. We had never been to California and thought it would be perfect. Tickets were a great price for only being 2 weeks away. So to San Fran it was.
We left Friday night from Savannah and were delayed of course. That’s usually how Atlanta does us. We missed our connection by 5 minutes. Such a bummer. They put us up in hotel and gave us a cute little overnight bag. Gee thanks Delta. So with no luggage we crashed for the night and headed back to the airport pretty early Saturday morning. We got out to San Fran by 11am or so. It’s a huge airport. We had to find a train to take us to the rental car place then take a shuttle to our off site rental car location bc I am cheap. LOL Guess what? We got on the WRONG shuttle. It was funny and annoying. Finally we got our car and headed to the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott right on the Wharf. It was gorgeous and worth the price. We were within walking distance to everything. We had some beautiful weather and some awesome seafood. Down on the wharf we ate at Fisherman’s Grotto. We had some yummy fried fish and fries. We got to see Alcatraz and the seals that hangout off the wharf. We headed over to Ghiradelli Square and then to Lombard Street, which is the crookedest street in the world. Really awesome experience. I had so much fun driving around the steep hills of San Fran. We then headed over to the Painted Sisters/Full House houses. I was super stoked about that. Mom wanted to check out Haight Ashbury. Just look it up for more info. LOL It was a fun filled, exhausting day seeing everything we wanted too.
Sunday morning we headed over the Golden Gate Bridge! I loved this! We pulled off the side and took some great pictures. So neat seeing something in person that you have seen photos of for so long. We headed on to Sausilito. What a cool little town across the Bay. I could of spend a lot more time there. It was more quite and low key. Def my scene. Lots of cute little shops, restaurants and sites. After this we traveled on to Muir Woods. I highly recommend this stop! I wish I had more time there. They have lots of of hiking trails for all different levels of hikers. I could have spent the day hiking and going down to the beach. The redwoods were amazing! Then on to Sonoma! Downtown was the cutest! We stopped in a local boutique and then a small local winery. Mom got to chatting with some other travelers and we enjoyed the beautiful day! Napa was where we ended for the night. We stayed at the Marriott of Napa Valley. Fabulous hotel. We had a great dinner at Fume. Highly recommend this little gem and the mac and cheese is amazing! Our trip overlapped with Kayla and Landon’s trip to Napa. Since Kayla travels so much we got access to the concierge lounge. Nice little perk! We had breakfast at Oventi. This was a yummy unique breakfast/brunch/lunch place. Monday morning Kayla and Landon got in around lunch and we headed our first winery. We went to the Rutherford. We did a wine and food pairing. How fun was that?!? Def recommend that. The day was beautiful and the sites were to die for! We then stopped at Alpha and Omega Winery for a bottle of wine and to enjoy the site there. Our next reservation was for a wine tasting at Mount Veeder Winery of the Franciscan. This was another great spot. We ended the day at V. Sattu Winery. I was done at this point. Too much wine for this girl. HAHA But, what a fun, fabulous day! We had dinner at R+D Kitchen. I loved that in this area they had great outdoor spaces with fire pits and really cozy places to hangout. I had to head out early Tuesday morning! I was bummed but duty calls. I headed back to San Fran and got to venture over the Bay Bridge. That was fun and lots of traffic! I was nervous bc of all the stuff you had to go through to get back to the airport itself. Shuttle, trains, checkin, security, walk, gates. AHHH! LOL I was ready to get back home at that point. It was a a great trip and I highly recommend everyone going and seeing the sites! I cannot wait to venture back to Napa Valley. I loved seeing the mountains and the water so close. God’s creating is beautiful! Enjoy the pix below.
